ZTE has two series in its smartphone portfolio: Axon and Blade. Axon phones are the company’s flagships, while Blade-branded devices tend to be more budget-friendly. In December, marketing materials for the upcoming ZTE Blade V9 were leaked on ZTE’s Spanish website. Now, the phone has stopped by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), implying that it might be released in the US.
Previously, leaked marketing materials revealed that the ZTE Blade V9 will have an all-glass front and back and a 5.7-inch Full HD+ 18:9 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 system-on-chip, and 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM with 16GB/32GB/64GB of storage. It’ll feature a dual rear camera consisting of a 16MP primary sensor with autofocus, an LED flash, and a f/1.8 aperture, and a secondary 5MP fixed-focus sensor. And there’s a 13MP front camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a hybrid SIM slot, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a 3,200mAh battery.
The FCC listing for the Blade V9 doesn’t add much in the way of new information. It shows that the phone will launch with Android 8.0 Oreo onboard, and confirms that at least one variant of it will have 2GB of RAM.
Interestingly, another model of Blade V9 recently received Bluetooth certification. It’s called referred to in documents as “ZTE Blade V9 Vita”, but as of now, we don’t know if it’s any different from the standard Blade V9. Again, the Bluetooth documents don’t reveal much — except for the fact that the phone supports Bluetooth 4.2.
Previously, ZTE Blade V9 was expected to be announced at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, but that didn’t pan out. The launch time frame is a bit of a mystery right now, but given that the phone just passed through the FCC, there’s a decent chance it’ll launch soon. Here’s hoping we learn more before it does.
