It has been a year since the release of the Huawei P10 and the P10 Plus. Huawei is gearing up to launch the successors of the P10 and the P10 Plus in the form of the Huawei P20 and the Huawei P20 Plus on March 27. The P20 and the P20 Plus will also be accompanied by the lower-end Huawei P20 Lite at the launch event.
Previously, we have exclusively reported that the phones will have a notch similar to that of the iPhone X. We have also reported that the phones will likely launch with the Point Cloud Depth Camera that will provide Huawei’s answer to Apple’s Face ID feature. Digging through firmware files, we also discovered that the Huawei P20 would have a battery capacity of 3,320mAh while the P20 Plus will have a bigger 4,000mAh battery. The P20 Plus will also have an Always on Display feature, which implies that it may also feature an OLED display.

Now, Evan Blass has published a photo of the regular Huawei P20. The photo corroborates our findings, as it shows the presence of the distinctive notch, which has a shape similar to that of the iPhone X. The P20 has a near bezel-less display, but it does have a fingerprint sensor which is integrated with the home button on the front of the device.
On the back, we find vertically placed dual cameras, and an LED flash below the camera module. The back of the phone shows a “Shirley” code-name and “BYOCA” near the camera module, both of which are likely misdirection from Huawei.
The photo also confirms that the Huawei P20 will have a glass back. As a reminder, we know that it will have the HiSilicon Kirin 970 system-on-chip and it may also have a 6.01-inch display and launch with EMUI 8.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. We expect to learn more about the P20 series in the time leading up to the launch event.
