Xiaomi is a company that’s known for innovation. Its phones have low price tags and excellent hardware, but that’s not all that’s special about them. Conceptual devices like the Xiaomi Mi Mix, a nearly bezel-less phone dominated by a curved screen, is an example of how the Chinese company is pushing the boundaries of smartphone design. The company released a successor – the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 — last year. Now, the next entrant in the cutting-edge series, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, is on its way, and it has been confirmed for a March 27 unveiling.

Donovan Sung, director of product management at Xiaomi, announced the news in a tweet. The “273741” number refers to its Antutu benchmark score, which we wouldn’t really put much stock in. In any case, the device, which we exclusively detailed earlier this month, is powered by the latest Qualcomm SoC, the Snapdragon 845. We can confirm that it will house a 3,400mAh battery, launch with Android Oreo, and have a screen resolution of 2160×1080 with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Product renders of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S from other sources show the device’s front-facing camera in a notch at the top-right. Other unconfirmed rumors suggest that the upcoming smartphone will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with a Sony IMX 363 camera sensor.
Xiaomi hasn’t revealed much about the Mi Mix 2S, and there are bound to be surprises in store for the phone’s official launch. If history is any indication, we’ll likely glean more details about the phone in the weeks leading up to the press event. Who knows, maybe we’ll have more to share ourselves if we find anything else in the device’s firmware files.
