It’s not uncommon for Huawei to release multiple variants of smartphones, and the P series is no different. There’s usually a flagship Huawei P device with high-end specs, a Plus variant with similar specs in a larger frame, and a Lite version with mid-range specs. Back in January, we learned that the Huawei P20 series would be no different, as there’d be three different variants. And this week, CAD-based 3D renders of both the P20 Plus and the P20 Lite leaked online.
Huawei P20 Plus
Judginy by the leaked images, which were published by Tiger Mobiles, the Huawei P20 Plus has a USB Type-C port at the bottom that’s flanked by drilled-out speaker/mic holes. The top of the device looks to have a notched bezel a bit wider than the Essential Phone housing two cameras and a few sensors, and next to it is a 3.5mm headphone port and a noise cancellation mic. Flipping the Huawei P20 Plus over reveals a triple-camera module: a dual-camera sensor with an additional camera right underneath it.
Huawei P20 Lite
The Huawei P20 Lite looks similar in some aspects, but there are some subtle difference. For instance, the bottom of the P20 Lite doesn’t have two speaker/mic grill cutouts; it replaces one of them with a 3.5mm headphone port. The P20 Lite reserves the top bezel for the phone’s cameras, and sports a dual camera module on the back.
Both the P20 Plus and P20 Lite have fingerprint scanners on the back of the device, which is par for the course for Huawei devices.
Huawei was previously rumored to launch its upcoming P series of smartphones during the 2nd quarter of 2018. There’s also a good chance that the Huawei P20 will launch with Android 8.1 Oreo and EMUI 8.1.
